Open Mouth

Well I decided to skip my second class today and was really in the writing mood so I headed over to Millennium Park and wrote some  poems I guess you could call them?  I would call them more spoken word material though.

Desaturated
A society of grays is better than one that is black and white
A million prey or a million ready to fight?
It’s your move, don’t forget about my pawn
You may be undecided, but their weapons are drawn
10 preach love but a hundred whisper hate
A gun or a hug, which are you bringing to the plate?
The men spill their lies while the truth drops like flies
It will all be revealed once this sand dries
A flat landscape on a circular globe
The vertical roads that I once drove
Our breaths will be visible through cold and summer
To remind us, time is limited…what a bummer
These chests aren’t made of steel
A broken heart will make you feel
While money can’t buy it all, it can buy most
All but the color that is needed to close.

A Dream

A dream is a dream unless you turn it around.
All the dream wants is reality to be found
You close your eyes hard and wait patiently
But the blackness just darkens with your heart, favorably
The sky is a painting and you have the brush
But if you can’t paint, then what is the rush?
Your head dips down with all of your ties
Give it another shot, but this time open your eyes.

Hope for the Hopeless

A shift in this land
Another 50 grains of sand
A mountain top growing is a pick-up truck towing
Your thoughts to a plateau, you should know
That we are alive but barely living
We’re a beating a heart and breathing lungs
I thought the inside is what counts…does it not?
Our opinions are silenced and good people hushed
While greed and power aren’t even touched
Lies of progression while we choke on our tongues
Give the hopeless some hope and the doctors more fun
By the time we’re gone and the generation takes over
All that will be left is all that is older.

Wake

We all fear the day
When we’ll finally lay
Heartless inside, until they lay you to rest
As if nothing else matters, and all is just less
You fear the next step because we don’t know
What’s on the other side, no one can show
In a world where all is answered
We fear the mysterious and those who have tampered
With the truth of our lives, we will translate to lies
In the afterlife of death and the before death of life.
